Building Stability In My Body- Free Inquiry Into hEDS
Hello! Welcome to my free inquiry project. For my free inquiry I have decided to learn about a condition that personally affects me, Hypermobility Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS).
The Ehlers-Danlos Society describes hEDS as a connective tissue disorder that causes hypermobility of the joints, chronic pain, joint instability, and a bunch of other symptoms that can affect the whole body. It is a rare condition that affects 1 in 3,100-5,000 people.
Unfortunately I was diagnosed with hEDS this past January (my physiotherapists have suspected this for years). There is not a cure for this condition, so I have chosen this as my free inquiry project so I can better understand how my body is being affected and what I can do to support my joints. Rather than just simply watching YouTube videos on exercises and following them, I want to do research and make a routine that is personalized to my body and my needs.
My first step is reading a book on hEDS to understand more about the condition and how I can increase stability and reduce pain (hopefully!). The book I will be reading is linked here. As I read I will be taking notes of the information I think will be helpful in designing a workout program.
After learning from the book, I will use what I learned to create a personalized stability-focused exercise program which I will follow for the remainder of the free inquiry project, and beyond.

I will continue to track my progress and post about what exercises I have found to be helpful, and how my body has been feeling overall.
I look forward to healing my body and learning about hEDS for this project!
